Ralph Fiennes was absolutely extraordinary — I genuinely couldn't take my eyes off him for the entire performance. Miranda Raison matched him at every turn. The writing, the staging, the performances — everything came together perfectly. One of the best evenings I have ever spent in a theatre.

I wasn't sure a play about Victorian actors would grip me, but I was hooked from the very first scene. David Hare's script is sharp, funny and surprisingly moving. Fiennes is magnetic on stage in a way that is very rare. Came with my wife for her birthday — she is still talking about it.

We visited from abroad specifically to see this production and it was worth every moment. The Theatre Royal Haymarket itself is breathtaking, and the play felt perfectly matched to its historic surroundings. Miranda Raison as Ellen Terry was a revelation — warm, witty and completely captivating.
