What Your Ticket Includes
Your ticket covers entry to the performance of Oliver! at the Gielgud Theatre — Cameron Mackintosh's production of Lionel Bart's musical, fully reconceived with director and choreographer Matthew Bourne and performed live by the company and orchestra. Food and drink are not included.
Age Recommendations
The age recommendation is 7 and above. Children under 3 are not admitted. Everyone, whatever their age, needs their own ticket, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by and seated next to a ticketholder who is at least 18. The production includes gunfire and smoke, and true to Dickens the script carries mild period language, depictions of violence towards men, women and children, and themes of poverty, hunger and crime.
Best Time to Attend
Matinees at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday are the calmer option and finish around 5:10 pm, which leaves the evening free. Evening performances run to about 10:10 pm and draw a fuller, livelier house — Consider Yourself and Oom-Pah-Pah land hardest in a packed auditorium. Note the earlier 7:00 pm start on Tuesdays.

The Gielgud has licensed bars on the Stalls, Dress Circle and Grand Circle levels, and staff will store coats, wheelchairs and scooters for the performance. Food and drink bought elsewhere may not be brought in. Soho and Chinatown begin at the end of the street, so pre-show dining is a two-minute walk in almost any direction.

Step-free access is via the side entrance on Rupert Street, which leads to the Dress Circle; the Grand Circle is around 30 steps up from the foyer and is not recommended for anyone with limited mobility. Up to four wheelchair spaces are created by removing seats A3–A6 and A30–A33, with transfers available into any aisle seat if you bring a companion to assist. There is an adapted toilet in the foyer and infra-red hearing enhancement headsets are available. By car: There is no parking at the theatre. The nearest car parks are on Brewer Street and the Q-Park in Chinatown at Newport Place. Central London congestion and ULEZ charges apply, so public transport is usually the easier option.
